The Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm is pleased to announce a significant step forward in development with the selection of leading professional services company GHD to undertake the crucial electrical front-end engineering design (FEED) for the initial phase of the project.

GHD’s involvement includes evaluating two turbine designs and developing the FEED for key electrical components, such as inter-array cables, the offshore high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) substation, power-system configuration, export cables, landfall and transition bays, onshore cabling, and substation equipment.

Teams from GHD’s Newcastle and Manchester offices will be dedicated to this important phase, focusing on efficiency, standardisation, and incorporating the latest innovative approaches in electrical infrastructure. Their extensive experience in the UK renewable energy sector makes them an ideal partner for Caledonia.

This collaboration underscores the momentum building behind the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm. Caledonia is committed to harnessing the power of the Moray Firth to deliver clean, sustainable energy and contribute significantly to Scotland’s renewable energy targets. This partnership with GHD is a testament to the dedication and progress being made to bring this ambitious project to fruition.
