Augmented Reality Welding Finals held in May at All-Energy

Scroll Down

Ocean Winds brought colleges from across Scotland to the All-Energy Conference for the Ocean Winds National AR Welding Competition using Caledonia-sponsored AR welding equipment.

The inaugural competition featured 10 welding apprentices from six colleges across the country and utilized the Caledonia-sponsored Seaberry AR welding equipment. These kits feature realistic helmets and handsets that offer a safe, cost-effective, and high-tech training environment for users to hone welding skills and build up their muscle memory.

Caledonia Associate Director of Engineering Sarah Graham delivered the prizes and big congratulations to Laura McColl from UHI Perth who won 1st place in the competition!

Welding is essential for the offshore wind supply chain and supports every stage in an offshore wind project’s lifecycle but has been identified as one of the key skills gaps in the UK. Caledonia is passionate about addressing this skills gap so the UK supply chain can benefit, and so developers can continue to deliver projects to support national clean power goals.

By hosting this AR Welding Competition with students from colleges across Scotland, Caledonia is proud to inspire the next generation of welders and deliver the skills needed for the energy transition.
